Im Passepartout über Eck versilbert gerahmt. – During the 'blitz' in the early 1940s, the London Underground served as a shelter for Londoners - who not only used the platforms as refuges, but also slept there. Moore produced a group of drawings - the 'shelter sketches' - that are a revelation to those who only know his sculpture. They are of course sculptural, but also subtle, with an extraordinary use of colour, and, above all, humane.
