Description:
Galissard (1817 - 1894), Prof. der Chemie u Mineralogie, weilte 1841 bei Liebig in Giessen, lehrte von 1841 - 1878 in Genf. War vor allem auf dem Gebiet der anorganischen Chemie tätig und bestimmte von 28 Elementen deren atomare Masse. 1858 bestägtigt er das Gesetz des Isomorphismus von Mitscherlich. 1880 entdeckte er das Element Gadolinium.
